TAMMISAARI (Ekenäs in Swedish)
Much of the Tammisaari’s charm is rooted in its quietness. The town which feels like a ghost town most of the year is packed with travelers from mid-May until mid-August. Still Tammisaari is more a mellow retreat than a hotspot.



Tammisaari attracts everyone who wants to wander around the streets of Old Town, see gracefully aging cottages and take a deep breath of sea air.

 

















TRANSPORTATION AND PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Tammisaari lies midway along the Karjaa (Karis in Swedish)-Hanko (Hangö in Swedish) train line and therefore, is best reached by train. The best days to visit in Tammisaari are market days, Wednesday and Saturday.


The market is located town hall square and offers local food products, artworks and antique. The market at 6 am until 2 pm Wednesday and Saturday. Be early! The market gets quiet around 1 pm.
 
To explore Tammisaari as a daytrip from Helsinki, the capital city of Finland, take a Helsinki-Turku intercity train at 9.03 am and change train in Karjaa. The regional train to Tammisaari departures at 10.10 am and arrives at Tammisaari station at 10.20 am. The town center is a 10 min. walk from the station.
